Taiwan Taiwan CTCI REI Wins the Highest Honor of the National Golden Award for Architecture, Successfully Delivering New Taipei's Largest Intelligent Multi-Story Parking Lot
The winners of the 25th National Golden Award for Architecture have been announced. CTCI REI, a subsidiary of CTCI, has earned recognition in the public works category of the award, receiving the first prize for "New Taipei City Xinzhuang Sports Park Underground Parking Lot Construction Project," the largest fully intelligent multi-story parking lot in New Taipei City. This project was carried out with a focus on professionalism and green technology, supporting the New Taipei City Government in realizing its vision of a park city.

Fu-Cheng Chen, President of CTCI REI, attended the award ceremony and accepted the award from Shyi-Kun Yu, President of the Legislative Yuan, and Hsin-Hsiu Wu, Director-General of the National Land Management Agency, Ministry of the Interior.

This award, organized by the National Enterprise Competitiveness Development Association, aims to encourage builders and construction companies to create environmentally friendly, intelligent, people-centric, and environmentally protective green buildings.

The project is a one-story above-ground, three-story underground parking lot with 636 car parking spaces and 189 scooter parking spaces. CTCI REI, through its core competency of "green engineering," successfully realized an intelligent parking lot that combines parking and sports park functions and obtained the Silver-level Green Building Label. This initiative has helped the New Taipei City Government solve the problem of insufficient parking spaces for residents and sporting events, improving the quality of life for its residents.

The intelligent and green technologies adopted by CTCI REI in this project are summarized below. From the planning and design stage, it reshaped the ground-level park central axis plaza and installed a landscape skybridge to overcome the 4.5-meter elevation difference in the original park central axis terrain, reducing the amount of backfill, and continuing the park's existing functions. In addition, a sunken plaza was created, directing the entrance and exit of the underground parking lot to the existing playground on the ground floor to enhance the park's connectivity. It also introduced fresh air and natural light, creating a friendly and healthy parking space that can also be used to evacuate and divert crowds during major events. Furthermore, Building Information Modeling (BIM) was used for design and construction. It integrated architecture, structure, and mechanical and electrical construction interfaces to resolve construction conflicts and optimize the sequence of work items, thereby improving the quality of the project. Despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, labor and material shortages, and nine typhoons during the construction period, CTCI REI overcame these difficulties and completed the project on time and with high quality, accumulating approximately 300,000 safe man-hours without lost-time injuries.
